That was the Hands on Data 2025

This year, the digitalization event Hands on Data took place: around 100 interested participants attended the event on May 27, 2025 at the Digitalization Center of FH Steyr and listened to exciting presentations on the topic of accessibility and then exchanged ideas with experts in an interactive new format. 'Hands on Data' in 2025 is also supported by a dedicated network. Initiated by the Werbeberg agency, the event was organized in collaboration with FH Steyr, WKO Steyr, Zukunftsregion Steyr, Netzwerk Steyrland, and IT Experts Austria.

Three Exciting Presentations

This year, three experts in the field of accessibility shared relevant innovations and how accessibility is applied in practice in exciting and interesting presentations. Markus Geilehner from Werbeberg informed with his presentation "Accessibility in the Digital Age" about the new European-wide directive of the European Accessibility Acts (EAA), which will come into force on June 28, 2025, as well as the benefits and opportunities that companies can gain through the implementation of accessibility measures. DI Andreas Schnegg from Phormolog presented in his talk "A Train Ticket for Everyone" the development history of the barrier-free ticket machine for the ÖBB and the handling of the topic of accessibility. FH-Prof Dr. Klaus Arthofer from FH Steyr reported in his presentation "Hands on Data GenAI" about the targeted use of data for understandable and accessible digital products.

"Digital inclusion concerns us all - be it in web design, product development, or dealing with AI," says Markus Geilehner from the Werbeberg agency.

Experience Accessibility Hands-On

In our new format called 'Hands on Data Sessions,' visitors were able to freely move between five theme islands and engage with experts on accessibility and digital accessibility. The event featured Simon Hartl from Digital Change ('AI & Accessibility'), Dominic Dietl from qapture GmbH ('Shaping the future with digital twins'), Michael Kölbl from RIS GmbH ('Retrofitting EAA compliance'), FH-Prof Dr. Klaus Arthofer from FH Steyr ('Digitalization activities at FH Steyr'), and the Werbeberg Team with an EAA Quickcheck of your website.

'This collaboration is the backbone of the event,' said Tobias Kammerhofer from Werbeberg. 'Each organization contributes valuable expertise - creating an event that is technically strong, practical, and open to all.'
