Responsive web design

The design of a website has long focused on the display on computer screens. However, with the development of new devices such as smartphones and tablets and the increasing use of mobile internet, the Web design has evolved and is increasingly taking into account the special features of mobile internet users.

This is because websites look different on small displays than on large screens and user-friendliness (Usability) is greatly reduced if websites are not optimized for mobile use.

Especially in the private sector, smartphones and tablets have become the most common portals to the Internet. Responsive web design was developed so that content can also be optimally displayed on mobile devices and offer the best possible user experience.

With responsive web design, a website is displayed differently depending on the screen size and/or device to ensure user-friendliness. Web designers choose this form so that users can easily use a website regardless of the device they are using.

"Form follows function"
The same content is made available in a slightly different design for different devices. On small displays, it may make sense to reduce various elements. The prioritization of existing elements plays a major role in this restructuring of the site. Careful consideration of which elements should be moved down the page and which are less important and can be deleted is the most important task. Rigid layouts are a thing of the past.

Responsive web design therefore figuratively means "responsive web design". The content, navigation and structure of a website adapt to the respective end device.
